Warung Roti
A moment to unwind in the city.
Tucked into a residential pocket near Senzoku Station on the Tokyu Meguro Line, Warung Roti opens Friday through Sunday with dense, hearty loaves, generously filled savory buns, custard pudding bread, and wine chosen by the owner.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Tucked into the residential streets of Senzoku, Meguro Ward, just steps from the Senzoku Library, Warung Roti opens its doors for only 3 days each week—Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The bakery has earned a devoted following for loaves with unmistakable heft in the hand. Inside the compact shopfront, the shelves are densely packed with crusty, European-style breads and table loaves that release deep wheat flavor with every chew, alongside baked goods generously stuffed with sweet and savory fillings.
The savory selection highlights hearty combinations with substantial flavor, such as sardine focaccia, edamame with chicken, meatballs with green beans, and sautéed onion with tuna. Sweet and rustic options include Iwate walnut anpan with gentle sweetness, as well as a fragrant sherry raisin bread. Particularly eye-catching is the pudding bread, an inventive bake encasing homemade custard pudding, made to be scooped gently with a spoon or fork.
Beside the bread, the counter features a curated selection of orange wines and natural labels from various regions, chosen specifically to complement the bakery's robust doughs. Picking out a bottle alongside the weekend's bread is part of the appeal. Operating solely for takeout and accepting PayPay, Warung Roti is a rewarding stop to stock up on distinctive bakes and natural wine while strolling through the neighborhood.
